What is Asian Glow?
Asian Glow, also known as “Asian flush,” “Alcohol Flush Reaction,” and “Alcohol Flush Syndrome,” is a condition in which a person develops flushes or blotches on the face, shoulders, neck, and/or the entire body after consuming alcoholic beverages. This is caused by a build up of acetaldehyde, which is a toxin produced by the partial oxidation of ethanol by the liver enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase (ALDH2). This build up happens when the body has a deficiency of the ALDH2 enzyme.
How many patches will I need for a night?

Can Non-Asian People Get Asian Glow?
Yes. The formal term for this condition is called, “Alcohol Flush Reaction” and anyone of any race can experience it. The nickname, “Asian Glow” comes from the fact that about 50% of people of East Asian descent, including Chinese, Japanese, North Korean, South Korean, Mongolian, and Taiwanese, have the ALDH2 deficiency, which causes “Asian Glow.” While it’s most prominent across these people, anyone can have this deficiency.
What kind of alcohol is best to drink for preventing Asian Glow?
The best types of alcohol to consume for people who experience the Asian Glow or Alcohol Flush Reaction is vodka, gin, or tequila. These liquors have the least amount of histamine in them and will be the most effective for the patch to work with. Feel free to mix with a sugar-free mixer such as soda, but avoid sugary mixers such as tonic, fruit juices, etc.
The worst types of alcohol to consume for people who experience the Asian Glow or Alcohol Flush Reaction are dark liquors, wine, champagne, hard cider, beer (especially IPAs), and all sugary mixed drinks.
